(Lacombe, Alberta, March 16, 2017) – As part of the Intermunicipal Development Plan review, Lacombe County and the City of Lacombe have hired MPE Engineering to carry out a flood mapping study for a portion of Whelp Brook. The study will start this spring, with employees of MPE Engineering surveying and conducting visual inspections of a portion of the Whelp Brook.
The draft Lacombe Intermunicipal Development Plan was presented to the public on February 28, 2017 and was generally well received, with over 115 people recorded in attendance. There are lands within the draft plan area that contain the Whelp Brook (see map), therefore the County and the City are carrying out a flood mapping study for these lands to ensure they are protected against any future flooding issues which may arise.
The County and the City have sent out information to the affected landowners, and ask the public to kindly allow the personnel from MPE Engineering to undertake their required work that will be of benefit to the public.
