Ellis Bird Farm
In 2016 the Ellis Bird Farm undertook a major beaver educational project. A beaver education node was built complete with signage demonstrating how beavers and humans can successfully co-exist and how the landscape that the beavers create can also draw in other species, including butterflies and birds. The Ellis Bird Farm team maintained, modified and expanded upon the trees snags and stacked logs in order to create beaver habitat. Bird boxes and bee houses were added to encourage further biodiversity to the location. For human visitors a “touching node” was added for school programs and contemplative seating for visitors to enjoy the landscape further and observe the butterflies, birds and bees that make their home in this space.
