Lacombe County, Red Deer County, the Town of Sylvan Lake, Summer Village of Birchcliff, Summer Village of Half Moon Bay, Summer Village of Jarvis Bay, Summer Village of Norglenwold, and the Summer Village of Sunbreaker Cove are collaborating to create a new Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP) between all partnering municipalities. Currently, no regional IDP exists between all partnering municipalities.
A regional IDP is a proactive and comprehensive approach to dealing with the growth challenges that lie ahead.
Following the joint public hearing hosted by all eight municipalities, the Steering Committee committed to reviewing all feedback prior to submitting the plan for third reading by each of the respective municipalities. It was agreed that based on the public feedback from the joint Public Hearing, the Steering Committee did not recommend changes to the draft plan except:
- To add to 2.4 Project Scope (p. 11) a general statement reiterating that the Partner Municipalities value the lake and worked within the bounds of the municipal jurisdiction in creating a plan that values environmental and watershed features; and
- Minor grammatical revisions.
The municipalities are currently considering third and final reading of their respective bylaws to adopt the proposed IDP.
